About CAC

Fighting Hunger. Bearing Hope.

The Community Action Committee, better known as CAC, is an outreach program led out of Otey Parish, which is dedicated to combating poverty and hunger in rural appalachia  CAC focuses efforts in and around the Sewanee,TN community and works to alleviate the effects associated with poverty through the  facilitation of a number of different programs including a food bank, tutoring program, and monthly community meals.

Our Programs

OUR SERVICES

St. James Tutoring

Every Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., CAC volunteers meet at St. James Church to tutor and provide homework help to a small group of students from Sewanee Elementary.

Food Bank

CAC operates a food bank from 9-11am Mondays-Fridays. We believe this program is one of the most vital we offer, as it plays a direct role in combating hunger in the surrounding area.

Food With Friends

On the last Friday of each month, the CAC partners with Food with Friends to serve a delicious, free community lunch at St. Mark's Hall. All members of the Sewanee community are invited!

Community Meal

Come on down to Otey Parish at 12pm on Friday, Feburary 28, 2018 for our monthly community meal. We will be serving spaghetti casserole. Get excited!
